The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development has appointed Joshua Kyalimpa as the new and substantive public relations officer (PRO) after he emerged the best contender.
Top officials in the Ministry according to a source began searching for a competent, vocal and qualified spokesperson at the beginning of the year.
“We wanted someone with a degree in mass communication, journalism or publication relations management,” said an official who asked not to be named for fear of reprisal since appointment of new officer has not been made official by the Human Resource.
Kyalimpa who has gradually risen through the ranks at the Ministry was considered the best cause of his academic credentials and experience in the media industry.
“He has a degree in mass communication and also a masters,” added a source.
Before he joined the Ministry, Kyalimpa worked at New Vision as Chief news editor, Radio Simba and also President of Uganda Journalists Association (UJA).
A source further said Kyalimpa is a cadre and a strong ally of President Yoweri Museveni and has many times executed missions assigned to him by the President
