Charles Olim alias Sipapa, is on the run for alleged involvement in a robbery of shs 1.6 billion.
Sipapa whose source of wealth remains mystery is guarded by armed UPDF soldiers he claims were given to him by President Yoweri Museveni.
He has a number of times taken pictures with the President at State House Entebbe.
Speaking to journalists on Monday the Police publicist Fred Enanga said that a South Sudanese national and resident of Bunga in Kampala was robbed of his home on the night of August 28, 2022.
“The thugs ransacked the home and stole cash amounting to $429,00 (about Shs1.6billion), four iPhones, apple laptops, Dell laptops, gold jewelry for the wife, and a 65-inch Samsung TV, among others,” said Enanga.
Enanga added that when the man reported the matter to the police, the detective tracked one of the stolen phones, and following this lead, the signal led them to a home in Buwaate, in Wakiso district.
“Our detectives tracked down an iCloud from one of the phones stolen from the home and led them to a location in Kityo close to Buwaate in Kira division. When we interviewed the occupants, they said the house belongs to Sipapa, whom we didn’t find at home but had travelled to Tororo,” said Enanga.
Enanga added that after a search in Sipapa’s home, in the presence of his wife, Shamilah Nakiyimba, they recovered a number of items stolen from the South Sudan national, including $70,000, four Iphones, three laptops, gold jewelry, and Iphone charger, and a Mac Pro charger.
He narrated that four suspects including the wife are currently in custody as the hunt for others is on.
Enanga further revealed that since the hunt started, Sipapa has not resurfaced at the home, adding that having been forced to surrender his armed guards, he is now moving with bouncers to protect him.
