Popular city lawyer Apollo Makubuya has Friday wedded his longtime fiancé Anne Juuko, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Stanbic Bank.
The wedding comes after Anne introduced the legal officer at her parents in July at a private ceremony known as Kukyala (the first official visit).
The two lovebirds got engaged in January 2022.
In a private message to family and friends, Makubuya said: “Dear friends, I am pleased to announce that Omumbejja Anne N. Juuko and I were engaged this last Sunday. We plan to get married this year. We thank all of you for your love and support. God bless.”
Since the news broke in January, the largely discreet Anne and Makubuya have kept everything about the event to themselves and close family friends.
Anne Juuko is the Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank, Uganda’s largest bank by deposits, lending, income, profitability and assets with roughly about 21% market share across the board. She assumed this role in March 2020 from Standard Bank Namibia (Standard Bank is the mother bank of Stanbic), where she was the Head, of Corporate and Investment Banking.
In the two years, Anne Juuko has been at Stanbic, she has grown the bank’s deposits by 22%- from the UGX4.72 trillion she inherited to UGX5.74 trillion. Lending under her grew by 30%, from UGX2.85 trillion to UGX3.72 trillion. The growth in lending, contributed significantly to the 31% growth in assets, from the UGX5.39 trillion that she inherited from Patrick Mweheire to UGX8.71 billion, at the close of 2021.
Total income under her tenure has grown by 12% from UGX 842.6 billion to UGX946.6 billion. Although profitability reduced slightly in 2020 from UGX258.7 billion, due to the Covid-19 impact (the bank bore the biggest brunt of the epidemic), it picked up 13.9% in 2021 to reach UGX275.4 billion).
