Museveni says Bamuturaki’s crime is Refusal to Wet Ssenyonyi’s beak

President Yoweri Museveni who appointed Jenifer Bamuturaki as the CEO of Uganda Airlines has lashed out at COSASE chairman Joel Ssenyonyi.

Museveni threw the spanner in the works on Monday as he presided over cabinet in which he used the opportunity to unequivocally blame Parliament as the hub of corruption in the country.

Museveni, according to Mulengera news outlet singled out Joel Ssenyonyi who has been harassing Uganda Airlines boss under the guise of investigating the operations of the national carrier.

Museveni reportedly said, “there is no way you are going to stamp out corruption unless you start from Parliament. That’s where it resides. All those MPs now shouting about Uganda Airlines and Jennifer Bamuturaki: you may think they are being serious about corruption. The truth is that they are just summoning those officials and talking tough on them but the real objective is to scare them into giving them bribes which must be resisted.”

With leadership experience spanning over 35 years at the helm of the country, Museveni wondered whether auditing someone’s academic credentials must be done in the press.

“If you are genuine about finding out somebody’s academic qualifications, do you have to convene a press conference? All you do is to write to the institutions where that person claims to have studied from and they write back explaining whether that person studied there or not,” Museveni said.

Museveni further  told Ministers that he has evidence related to all corruption dealings at Parliament and when he starts unleashing it, MPs will look for where to hide.

He urged his Ministers to remain firm and resist all forms of intimidation orchestrated by the likes of Ssenyonyi whose aim is to attract bribes.
