UPDATE: 3 officials of Parliament Dismissed for Soliciting bribe, Security hunting Accomplices

The Parliament of Uganda

Three Parliamentary officials who were sent on forced leave for soliciting a bribe from a Namibian investor who was in Uganda to work with government have been dismissed with disgrace.

The decision to sack the unscrupulous officers was taken and implemented last week.

This website earlier reported that the trio was first interdicted by the  office of the permanent secretary and secretary to the treasury, Ministry of Finance last month.

Reports suggested that the Permanent Secretary took action against the trio following an investigation sanctioned by security after obtaining information how they solicited and obtained a bribe from an investor who wanted to supply and maintain solar lights.

Fresh details now indicate that having collected enough facts linking the three officials to the crime, they have been sent home, the contract cancelled and security is hunting for their accomplices to prosecute the whole racket at once.

Sources at the Ministry say, detectives in their investigations recommended the arrest of the Namibian investor, “because he is considered an accomplice.”

“Of course the process is very wide to have the Namibian returned into Uganda for prosecution since Namibia and Uganda have different laws. However, all the three officials and their accomplices have one charge sheet,” said a source.
