Soroti Byelection : FDC candidate Hospitalized ahead of Tomorrow’s  voting

Mr Attan is bedridden

Moses Attan Okia, the FDC candidate in Soroti East parliamentary byelection has been rushed to hospital barely 24 hours to polling.

Attan faces stiff competition from ruling party candidate Herbert Edmund Ariko as both have pulled mammoth crowds during their one month campaign for the Parliamentary seat.

Top political bigwigs in the country both in opposition and ruling party have pitched camp in Soroti canvassing support for their candidates.

President Yoweri Museveni a few days ago held three rallies in the constituency urging electorate to vote for Ariko if they want service delivery.

Museveni’s counterparts in opposition, Kizza Besigye and Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine also combed the area in a bid to reclaim the opposition’s supremacy.

The vice president of Uganda Hon Jessica Alupo, Prime Minister Robina Nabbanja, and other NRM stalwarts are also in Soroti all aiming at supporting Ariko to Parliament.

Attan who won the election last year was ejected by High Court in Soroti in May this year on grounds that Electoral Commission didn’t conduct free and fair elections.

The polling is slated for tomorrow July 28 and the winner will be declared after vote tallying.

FDC officials who spoke to this website said their candidate is fatigued following the rigorous campaign trail he held, contrary to unverified reports from a section of party members that Attan was poisoned.
