The two perished in the crash

MPs on the Government Assurance and Implementation committee have tasked Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) to explain the death of three Ugandans knocked by a train over the weekend.’

They were later identified as Caroline Aturinda, a lawyer, Norbert Tizikara,32, an Architect with the Uganda Police Construction Unit and the proprietor of Redion Designs and a one Anne (a lady).

The trio died after the car they were travelling in was hit by a train at the Level Crossing (railway) in Nakawa Division, Kampala Sunday morning.

The MPs fault the corporation for failing to have crossing-keepers and no warnings as one crosses the rail.

According the chairperson of the committee Hon Joseph Ssewungu, in the early days locals knew the time a train would pass in an area, a worker was on ground keeping the level crossing area and a physical barrier also existed separating the road and the rail.
