Flavia Kalule accused of Leaking to Bobi Wine NUP MPs who Pocketed shs.40m as She targets Mpuuga’s LoP job

Flavia Kalule is accused of snitching and eyeing Mpuuga's LoP chair

Opposition party National Unity Platform (NUP) is no longer at ease.

Cracks, accusations, defiance, name calling, bickering can summarize the current status in the party.

This resulted from party president Robert Kyagulanyi’s decision to compel party lawmakers to return shs 40 million extended to them by Parliament as an appreciation for passing the supplementary budget.

This website broke news that firestorm had erupted in the party with top officials clashing over the cash bonanza.

Mr Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine issued a 48 hour ultimatum to those who accepted the cash to return it to the office of the opposition chief whip John Baptist Nambeshe who would later hand it over to the Parliamentary Commission.

After the 48-hour- deadline passed last evening without any single NUP legislator showing up with the money, the party leadership in Parliament decided to call an emergency caucus meeting on Thursday to decide the way forward.

Sources say, the big section of lawmakers who pocketed the money have snubbed the Thursday meeting.

Instead they have ganged up against Kassanda Woman MP Flavia Kalule Nabagabe faulting her for leaking to Bobi Wine the list of those who took the money.

Insiders say, Kalule has secretly been nursing ambitions to unseat Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga who is perceived as collaborating with the regime protagonists.

For many times Mpuuga has been branded as a mole by many NUP diehards considering his liberalism visa vie the extremism method of leadership the party exercises.

Flavia Kalule is reported as one of the few MPs who Bobi Wine trusts because of greed the other members have exhibited since they joined parliament.

The legislators who ate the money insist that even when they returned it, they don’t know if the Chief Whip would hand it over to NRM.

As procedure, the biggest opposition party in Parliament appoints the Leader of Opposition and assesses his/performance every after two and half years. The party then decided whether to retain the LoP or make changes.

Sources say that there is a possibility Mpuuga could be dropped when Kyagulanyi and his team sit to appraise his performance.

Precedents have previously been set. In 2012 when FDC elected Mugisha Muntu as Party president he dropped Nandala Mafabi as LoP. Mafabi had contested with Muntu in a hotly contested race.

Equally in 2017 Patrick Amuriat Oboi removed Winnie Kiiza from the LoP position because she was allied to Gen Mugisha Muntu whom he had defeated as the latter sought a re-election.
