Inaugural Mbale city Land board Chairman, Paul Wanyoto, warns Land grabbers “I am coming for You”

Paul Wanyoto Mugoya who was appointed and sworn in as inaugural chairman of Mbale City land board last Saturday vowed to end bourgeoning land grabbing and illegal evictions while working closely with the authorities.

Wanyoto, a renowned lawyer said he would work closely with the city leadership to bring back green spaces and restore trust in the Land acquisition process.

He further requested the City Council to support the idea of Mbale City Land Board championing the formation of the national association of City/District Land Boards to build capacity across the Country to manage land.

The 40-year-old son of the soil was appointed by the Mbale City Council last month. He has previously contested to represent Mbale Northern City Division in Parliament.

After taking oath of office, he hosted guests at his palatial residence in Nabweya and re-echoed his plans for Mbale city.

“In my tenure I will work with the planners to bring back the green spaces and the playgrounds for children such as  Lions park. You  will not hear anywhere that I have given open spaces to private developers.” Wanyoto said.

Wanyoto  vowed to serve all the people irrespective of their political, religious or tribal belonging.

Mbale city Mayor, Cassim Namugali, Said infighting among leaders in Mbale is killing service delivery.

The New Vision CEO, Don Wanyama, said having known the new land’s chairman for many years he has no qualm in his (Wanyoto) leadership ability. Wanyama praised Mbale city council for making a right choice in the appointment of Wanyoto.
