NATIONAL OUTCRY: As Museveni tells Ugandans to Eat Cassava, UBL Hikes beer Price

UBL has also increased price of Guinness one of its products

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has issued communique on price adjustments of its products due to increase in cost of production.

The high cost of production has been triggered by the scarcity of fuel on the global market.

In Uganda, a little costs one and a half U.S dollars.

A number of production firms have announced intentions of increasing commodities.

For example, a bar of soap in Uganda costs 3 dollars. Last year it would be purchased at one dollar in retail shops.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Sunday while commenting on the sharp rise of commodity prices urged Ugandans to resort to Cassava if they can’t afford bread.

“We take this opportunity to thank you for the continued support and partnership in driving sustainable

business operations. Due to the increasing cost of production as well as raw materials, we have been forced to adjust prices of the following SKUs with effect from today the 4 th of May 2022,” a UBL statement reads.
