The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the ruling party presided over by President Yoweri Museveni has approved deputy Speaker Anita Among as its candidate for position of Speaker.
Among faced off with other 11 candidates including Hon Oboth Oboth, deputy Attorney General Geoffrey Kafuzi, among others.
The 12 candidates all sought the mandate of CEC.
Anita will then face off with opposition contenders on Friday at Kololo grounds in a bid to elect Rt Hon Jacob Oulanyah’s successor.
This means that Among will tonight resign from her earlier position as Deputy Speaker.
