Brig. Charles Bakahumura, who heads of Chieftaincy of Logistics and Engineering of UPDF has broken silence on reports of his alleged arrest which widely circulated on Friday evening.
A section of online media outlets suggested that the one-star general had been picked immediately after UPDF prayers which took place at Kololo grounds.
The army would later dismiss the reports as “fake news.”
Speaking to this website on Saturday, Brig Bakahumura said that the allegations are false.
He said, “take what the army has told you as true.”
Asked what could have propelled the allegations, Bakahumura said he was not authorized to speak to the media.
“You can reach out to my boss who is the CDF. Ok bye,” he said before ending a call.
Shortly after the reports made rounds, some people suggested that he had been kicked out of office. This website has verified that its false.
We understand Brig. Bakahumura yesterday travelled to upcountry.
The army publicist Brig Felix Kulayigye had earlier said “the arrest is not there. It is fake news.”
However, the army had arrested 5 logistical officers from Mbuya UPDF headquarters.
The five appeared before the UPDF disciplinary unit on Thursday and were further remanded to Makindye military barracks.
Kulayigye confirmed there is an investigation on the said junior officers.
