Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba backs Putin on Ukraine invasion

Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is the Commander of Land Forces and highly trained UPDF soldier.

Uganda’s Commander of Land Forces (CLF) and three star General, Muhoozi Kainerugaba has said Russia’s leader Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin was right to launch military operations in Ukraine.

“The majority of mankind (that are non-white) support Russia’s stand in Ukraine.Putin is absolutely right! When the USSR parked nuclear armed missiles in Cuba in 1962 the West was ready to blow up the world over it,” Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba tweeted on Monday.

His position has been welcomed by many of his followers. The First Son’s social media popularity surges everyday.

Muhoozi is among very few if none African military leaders who have boldly taken sides in the Russia- Ukraine fight which many had predicted would catapult into the Third World War.

Muhoozi further said, “Now when NATO does the same they expect Russia to do differently?”

His comment could rub Western Powers wrong way which are supportive of Ukraine.

The former SFC commander however, was quick to say that brotherhood is stronger than military might.

“Also, as far as Russia’s ‘Special Operation’ in Ukraine is involved, I have learnt that you can never put anything beyond brothers! They will always surprise you. I remember between 1990-94 we expected a war between African and European in South Africa but it never happened!”

Russian troops are closing in on Ukraine’s capital, days after Russia’s leader ordered a full-scale invasion from the north, east and south. In a pre-dawn TV address on 24 February, he declared Russia could not feel “safe, develop and exist” because of what he claimed was a constant threat from modern Ukraine.

The invasion has compelled Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy  to accept diplomacy, including peace talks with Russia but said he was not ready to surrender.

Airports and military headquarters were hit first then tanks and troops rolled into Ukraine from Russia, Russian-annexed Crimea and ally Belarus.
