Passenger dies in Taxi after reaching Downtown Kampala

Peter Apangu, a resident of Katooke, Bwaise has died in a Taxi on Thursday morning.

According to Luke Owoyesigire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson, Apangu was found dead in a taxi UAU 859L that was traveling from Bwaise to Kampala City.

It is alleged that when the taxi reached Nakivubo Mews, the taxi operators tried wake up Apangu to pay the fares only to realise that he was dead.

“Our homicide team has visited the scene and realised the deceased had a swelling on the eye, an indication that he had been beaten or hit,” Mr Owoyesigire said.

The Central Police Station has has conveyed his body to city mortuary Mulago for a post mortem.

“We have also arrested the driver of the motor vehicle, John Semwogerere and Bruno Mawejje  to help aid in the ongoing investigations,” Owoyesigire said.
