There is a new rebel movement Uganda, operating in districts of Kiboga and Mityana.
This has been confirmed by Uganda Police at a news conference held at the head offices on Tuesday.
According to the Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the rebel outfit has been targeting police stations.
Enanga said that the group conducted surveillance on Ssekanyonyi police station, but before the attack, the rebels were arrested.
“After interrogation, they have provided us with useful information including the overall commander of the rebel group who has been recruiting and funding their operations. They target police officers to get guns. They also look at officers as their enemies and an obstacle to overthrow government,”said Enanga.
Enanga couldn’t disclose the details of the rebel leader maintaining it is sensitive information.
“They have been charged with terrorism, murder, unlawful possession of firearms and aggravated robbery,” he said.
