Evidence: Photo of Gen. Kandiho ‘smoking’ is a Forgery

A copy of the original picture of Gen Kandiho which was manipulated.

A picture circulating widely on internet bearing facial details of CMI commander Maj. Gen. Abel Kandiho is purely photoshop and the evidence is overwhelming.

This website has since made the discovery that the graphic designer behind the fake picture must have had an original photo of the spymaster whose copy has been used on internet platforms including Rwanda’s website ‘igihe.com’ which remains critical of Gen. Kandiho, CMI and Uganda government.

Ugandans credit Kandiho of thwarting possible terror schemes and threats engineered by Rwandan agents in Uganda.

Glancing at the fake photo one can be convinced that it is a seemingly a perfect image, prompting experts to suggest that the editing could have been done by a highly skilled graphic designer.

But picture editing experts this website consulted following the onslaught of the manipulated image concluded that it was fake because of the warped background including the smoke of the cigarette which had been placed in his mouth.

“The smoke from cigarette especially when someone is smoking can’t be behind, it has to be in front over his face,” said an expert.

Adding that the smoke was too much and exaggerated.

Also the entire image was in a focus promoting experts to know that it’s a composite of multiple images.

“When you zoom, you can see that the cap, the neck, the necklaces and the cigarette were all brought together on his face,” an expert added.

This website found that the picture didn’t have real human features like lines or pores on the face because the maker could have used image-modifying app, a software which usually can’t  take the end appearance into account.

EVIDENCE

Against that background from experts, this website would land on an real picture whose original copy was concocted.

In the real photo Gen. Kandiho was attending a function clad in a blue shirt, grey jacket and red tie.

The makers of the fake photo simply used only his face of the original image.

Then graphic designer altered Kandiho’s appearance with another google-picked picture of a homeless white man smoking cigarette wearing a cap and several necklaces. The designer thus waned the colour to suit Kandiho’s skin complexion.

More hallmarks of the photoshop point to where the picture first emerged on Wednesday morning before it spread across main social media platforms.

The fake picture emerged after United State of America announced its decision to slap financial sanctions against Gen. Kandiho.

in his response he told local media that he was not bothered by the sanctions and warned the western nation against creating unnecessary enemies and losing allies.
