The Joint Counter Terror Task Teams have continued to disrupt the plans by the ADF terror cells deterring them from carrying out even more horrific attacks in the country.
On the 30.11.2021, the task teams arrested Isma Kiyemba, a 24-year-old suspected terrorist and member of the ADF terror cell in Lweza where an assortment of terror related exhibits was recovered.
Furthermore, on 2.12.2021, the same task teams successfully tracked down and arrested Twaha Ssegujja aka Kisemboo Joseph, a 37-year-old male adult and resident of Nakuwadde village, Nakabugo Parish in Wakiso district.
“We have established that the suspect came to Kampala in 2007, from Kanyamiyaga village, Nyamiti parish, Kagadi district and joined the bodaboda industry.
After 11 year, in 2018, he was recruited into the ADF ranks, and went to the Eastern DRC for military training.
In furtherance of the ADF plans in Uganda, he sneaked back into the country, with an AK47, and started carrying out tasks assigned to him by Meddie Nkalubo, aka Benjamin, aka Abubaker Saleh aka Isaac, who is suspected to be in South Africa or Zambia,” revealed CP Fred Enanga, the Spokesperson for Police while updating the country on the ongoing counter terror operations.
According to CP Enanga, the suspect was disguising as a bodaboda rider and also owned a shop at Nakuwadde village, that he was renting from Swaleh Abubaker.
After conducting a thorough search at the shop, a hidden store was discovered with an assortment of weapons and bomb making materials.
“The items recovered included; an AK47 rifle that had no magazine, a silver grenade bomb concealed in a laptop bag, 9 pairs of green gumboots, 5 airtel lines and 2 Itel phones, 389 detonating roads, 3 suspected explosive boosters, 2 bags of ammonium nitrate packed in sugar sacks and 7 tins of chemical fluids, among others,” said CP Enanga.
The Police is certain that the two sets of recoveries and arrests made during the course of last week have dealt the ADF terror cells a big blow.
This is because the suspect, Twaha Ssegujja was the main courier of the ADF networks. He was also actively involved in transporting the bomb making materials and other weapons amongst their operatives. Having only recently moved to the area on 15.09.2021, he had spent 21/2 months there.
The Police Spokesperson however reminds the public that the terror threats against Ugandans and other citizens in the country still exist.
“We believe if these dangerous weapons were not recovered and left in the hands of the terrorists, the results would be more devastating for our citizens and visitors,” he said.
The Joint Security Agencies are therefore on a mission to proceed with their operations aimed at preventing, deterring, stopping and dismantling the ADF infrastructure in the country and any other deadly plots against Ugandans and other citizens in the country.
