The army has arrested a soldier who appeared in a video that circulated widely on social media in which he insulted his colleagues as wild dogs and mangoose as they threatened to arrest him.
The soldier who is at a rank of a captain had been accused of associating with thieves and drinking silly.
In his response as he staggered, he unapologetically hurled insults at his colleagues branding them “embwa and emiterere.”
The abusive and disrespectful soldier is not yet identified but it has been confirmed that he was arrested and taken to Makindye barracks.
The UPDF deputy spokesperson Ronald Kakurungu confirmed the arrest to this website although he didn’t divulge more details.
BACKGROUND
Yesterday, in a recorded video where he was evidently drunk and still holding a bottle of alcohol, the said soldier without remorse addressed his colleagues continuously as wild dogs in a very arrogant manner.
The people with whom he was, whom he was abusing, were soldiers as well and wouldn’t take it.
Reasoning with him made little to no sense at all which pushed them to call their superior in rank, in the hope that their disrespectful colleague would be put back in line. They further threatened to report him to the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) to which he was very unbothered and unmoved.
“Take photos of him and send them to the phone. I am going to send them to CMI given his attitude,” one of the colleagues said.
In any case, this was not the first time the said soldier was being disrespectful.
Apparently, from the video one can tell that he had been abusing his uniform and status as a soldier to treat people with much disregard and disrespect.
Even after the phone call was made and he was asked to talk to their superior, he arrogantly said, “ Tell these wild dogs to go home!” which only further annoyed his colleagues.
It is against this disturbing background that the said soldier was arrested and taken to Makindye.
