Security forces in Counterterrorism operation have arrested another suicide bomber in Katerera, Bunyaruguru a settlement in Rubirizi district on his way to DR- Congo.
The ADF terror-outfit has for years pitched camp in Eastern part of DRC from where they premise to attack neighbouring Uganda.
The terrorist who according to highly placed sources was intercepted as he carried a bomb on Tuesday evening.
His arrest comes high on heels of another arrest in Kisoro district in which a Burundian national was apprehended as he attempted to board Bismarkan Bus to Kampala with two rifles and several rounds of ammunition.
This happened a day after twin bomb blasts rocked Kampala city.
The identity of the alleged suicide bomber arrested in Bunyaruguru has not been revealed.
“What I know is that he was brought back to Kampala for more investigations,” said a source.
“He had been trailed by the CT squad right from Kampala. He is among the crew that attacked Gen. Edward Katumba and also went to Gen Paul Lokech’s funeral.”
As if a light at the end of the tunnel, he promised to show security more terror cells and where more explosive devices are hidden in Kampala.
“This is also a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism,” a source added.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga when reached for a comment said he would revert after gathering details. However, he was yet to respond by the time of filing this report.
Security has heightened intelligence monitoring to avert any possible terror attacks across the country.
The Kampala bomb blasts left four people dead and 37 injured of which 13 victims remain admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
The terrorist group responsible for all this chaos according to CP Fred Enanga, is the Allied Democratic Forces, (ADF), an Islamist rebel group in based in Western Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“All Ugandans should know that the terrorist threats are real, and from a known enemy, the ADF. We believe they could be having a wider ideological motive of violence towards our citizens and country, but we are determined to track them all down and hold their agents, operatives and collaborators, accountable for the senseless terrorist attacks,” Enanga emphatically stated in the press statement of 17th November 2021.
Citizens remain in shock as the situation in the city is still delicate.
