A suspected member of the Congo-based terror outfit Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) has Wednesday morning been extracted from a bus leaving Kisoro district headed for Kampala.
According to reports, the suspected terrorist was intercepted while carrying two heavy machine guns and five fully loaded magazines which are believed to have been carried for terror purposes.
The weapons were concealed in sack which also had Cassava. Police later learnt that that it wasn’t cassava but only peelings to cover up the hidden weapons.
The gunman had a secured a slot on a bus belonging to Bismarkan company.
Police couldn’t disclose details of the suspected terrorist saying investigations are ongoing.
SP Henry Kintu, the DPC of Kisoro when contacted confirmed the arrest but said he was not in position to divulge further details until investigations are concluded.
“It is true. Please call our regional spokesperson for details.”
Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Mate did not answer our repeated calls.
This development comes just a day after three suicide bombers blew up in separate bomb attacks across Kampala city.
The mega explosions left 3 civilians dead and 36 injured.
The President in his statement named the suicide bombers and said security had been trailing them.
Security has since heightened to ensure monitoring of vulnerable public places to curb further attacks.
President Museveni listed a number of places including Bus Parks as soft targets of these “pigs.”
