Gateway Bus burns to Ashes in Mpigi; all Passengers rescued

The bus burned beyond repair

A Gateway company bus heading to Kabale from Kampala has caught fire on Tuesday and burnt to ashes.
The incident happened Today at Kampiringisa check point, Kamengo sub county along Kampala – Masaka highway, the Gateway company bus, registration number UAU 926U went up in flames.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established unfortunately.

“Fortunately, all the passengers have come out alive and well but have sadly lost their property,” Police said.

The driver had been earlier warned about smoke from the rear but pulled over after the fire had spread.

“All the 37 passengers on board are safe and managed to exit the bus before it was entirely engulfed by the fire. The actual cause of the malfunction will be communicated later,” said Faridah Nampima, the traffic police spokesperson.
