Breathtaking Uganda gives Miss Uganda grand Send off to Miss World competition in Puerto Rico

Chief Whip Thomas Tayebwa hosted State Minister for Tourism, CEO Breathtaking and Miss Uganda while flagging off the ceremony

Miss Uganda, 26-year-old Elizabeth Bagaya, will be representing Uganda at the 70th Miss World Beauty Pageant under the theme,” Beauty with Purpose” in Puerto Rico. Breathtaking Uganda, a private sector led social enterprise whose aim is to position Uganda as the ultimate African stop for unforgettable experiences, and the Miss Uganda team came together in an initiative to give Bagaya a grand send-off.

Uganda’s last representative to the pageant in 2018 was Quiin Abenakyo who performed excellently coming 5th overall and 1st in Africa.
“This time round I have heard our daughter Miss Bagaya stands a huge chance to bring the crown home and so this function is just to send her to Puerto Rico with our blessing,” said the Chief Whip in his speech. “Elizabeth, our hopes are high that you will do us proud in Puerto Rico,” he added.

Ms. Bagaya is a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management and a make-up artist by profession. She was the first runner up in the last beauty pageant and was graced with the nod after Miss Uganda 2020/2021 Oliver Nakakande opted to go for her studies in Dubai. This left Ms. Bagaya with the opportunity to sweep the world off its feet.

The outstanding 26-year-old is also in charge of the Bagaya Elizabeth Foundation which extends financial assistance and mental support to children in Butabika hospital. She is also among the top contenders for Miss World Africa hence the grand and exquisite send off as the country urges her to soar on and emerge victor.

The send-off was in phases and started out with an independence getaway trip to Western Uganda where Bagaya, together with the State Minister for Tourism, Mr. Bahinduka, took a 4 day trip to Lake Mburo,Igongo and Gahiza Island. With them was a camera crew capturing the beautiful moments that will also be used to showcase Uganda at the finals. On to 5th to 7th November, she will be at her home city, Fort Portal where she will be given a beautiful homecoming and send-off by the natives.

Finally, there will be a carefully organized gathering of well-wishers and sponsors celebrating Bagaya’s journey and sending her off. The occasion will be a night of Ugandan fashion, beauty and business communities gathering to dine with the beauty queen.  Breathtaking Uganda and Kezzi entertainment, the Miss World Uganda franchise owners will also see the team visit several Kabarole Crater lakes, Sempaya hot springs, Amabere ga Nyinamwiru, Kyeganywa hilltop and conclude the trip with Karuzika Palace. On Sunday they will make a stop at Chimpundu Lodge in Kibale National Park for photoshoot.
