Anita Among: We have Agreed with LoP to Consult the President over Ssegirinya’s Health

Mohammad Ssegirinya needs urgent medical attention

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon Anita Among has revealed that the top administrators of the legislature have unanimously agreed to consult the executive on what step to take towards treatment of opposition MP Mohammad Ssegirinya.

Ssegirinya, the Kawempe North MP is currently bedridden in Mulago after his health deteriorated as he was incarcerated in Kigo Prison.

The MP is battling several charges including terrorism.

“Yesterday the Hon Jane Ruth Aceng brought a report on the state of Hon Segirinya to our office and in consultation with the LOP, we are consulting the executive and we shall be informing the house on what action has been taken,” Hon Among Tweeted on Thursday.

The opposition MPs are headed by Leader of Opposition (LOP) Mathias Mpuuga a member of National Unity Platform (NUP).

Earlier, Among had tasked the Minister for Health Dr. Ruth Aceng to make sure that incarcerated Kawempe North legislator gets adequate attention.

However, despite his worrying health condition, continued requests from LOP to the Prisons authorities to release him such that he can get the requisite medical attention have failed.
