The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education and Sports has issued a press release informing Head Teachers of secondary schools of the guidelines for the selection exercise for senior one and senior five.
The exercise is to be conducted at Kololo Independence grounds from 25th – 29th October, 2021, simultaneously for both classes.
According to the press release, only Head Teachers will be representing their schools and they should carry their official identity cards.
Given that it is estimated that there will be approximately 2000 participants and keeping COVID-19 in mind, it was agreed upon that, participants will be attending in groups of 500 per day which will take four days.
“A detailed schedule indicating dates when head teachers of different schools will report for testing and for selection will be uploaded on the Ministry website and ASSHU platforms,” read the document.
All participants are to be tested for COVID-19 at Kololo Senior Secondary School.
“The group that will participate in the exercise on Tuesday 26th will be tested on Saturday 23rd, those selecting on Wednesday 27th will be tested on Sunday 24th, those selecting on Thursday 28th will be tested on Monday 25th and the group that will select on Friday 29th will be tested on Tuesday 26th October, 2021,” read the directive from the Permanent Secretary.
All SOPs are to be strictly adhered to by all participants.
On the other hand, in relation to Primary Teachers Colleges and BTVET Institutions, Primary Teachers Colleges will not be taking admission for grade III certificate courses and ‘the selection exercise for learners joining Technical Schools, Community Polytechnics and Technical Institutes shall be conducted at a date to be communicated later’ by the ministry according to the statement.
