Uganda Airlines will fly to Dubai on the 4th October 2021, a major milestone for the national carrier because it will mark the first intercontinental route on the Airline’s  network.

The Airline will use Airbus A330-800neo for international flights. Uganda Airlines recently successfully got Airbus A330-800neo (new engine option) aircraft included on the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) fleet listing.

The Airline will have three flights to Dubai per week.

It is understood that Dubai was the Airline’s first choice for the launch flights of the A330 because of the  important relations between Uganda and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over the years, with Dubai establishing herself as an important factor in the growing consumer trade industry for Uganda  and a transit point to Europe, the Far West and Far East.

Uganda Airlines’ Airbus offers passengers  three travelling options;  the economy class  (210  seats) where passengers will experience comfort, ample legroom, and increased hand baggage allowances; the premium economy class  (28 seats) that will have passengers travel in more comfort, seats that represent the warm and green beauty of the Ugandan Countryside with enough legroom and working space for the passenger that wants to work while they travel and the business class (20 seats) that will see passengers experience comfort at its best, with seats that transform into full lie flat beds during flight.

“This ensures that those that want to hit the ground running when they reach their destination are able to do so,” a source told this website, adding: “Our flights will have Wi-Fi connectivity that give the passengers an option to connect to the internet for the duration of flight.”

To keep all passengers entertained, Uganda Airlines aircraft are equipped with the state-of-the-art In-flight Entertainment System (IFE) that are regularly updated with the latest blockbuster movies and this gives an opportunity for the developing Ugandan TV and Movie industry to showcase their talent using this feature.

It is important to note that the COVID19 pandemic has brought about a change in mindset of how business including airlines operate.

To this end, Uganda Airlines in conjunction with all health agencies has ensured that all travelling passengers have a negative PCR test result before boarding.

“The Uganda Airlines aircraft are disinfected regularly and operate with Hyper Filters that recycle the air every two minutes. This is geared at reducing the risk of onboard transmission. Also, while on our flight, surgical facemasks are to be kept on at all times, except while eating,” a source says, adding: “With these measures, we are confident that travel onboard Uganda Airlines will be safe and reliable.”

After Dubai, other international and long-haul routes such as London and Guangzhou will follow.
