Uganda Airlines carries out Airbus A330 Demo flight to Johannesburg

Uganda Airlines Airbus A330 Neo

Today, 27th and 29th of August, travellers between Nairobi and Entebbe will have the opportunity to fly the carrier’s new wide-body whose cabin features 20 full-flat, business-class beds, 28 premium-economy seats and 210 economy-class seats, totalling 258 seats.

Following the successful addition of its pair of A330-800s to its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC), Uganda Airlines is now embarking on marketing its new product across its network.

The 2 Airbus A330-800s with registration 5X-NIL (msn 1977) and 5X-CRN (msn 1979) arrived in Uganda in December 2020 and January 2021, respectively.

However, due to delays in their type certification, both were grounded until August 12 and just before being certified, 5X-NIL carried out a demonstration flight to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo in South Africa.

In line with the Company’s strategy to keep offering its customers unbeatable economics, increased operational efficiency and superior passenger comfort, the pair of A330-800 is being prepared to launch the Uganda Airlines long haul network with flights to Dubai first followed by London, Mumbai and Guangzhou.
