Journalist Solomon Serwanjja is leaving NBSTV after 6 years.
The popular investigative journalist who also works as a news anchor at the Naguru based TV station will depart at the end of this month to focus on his new role as Executive Director African Institute for Investigative Journalism (AIIJ).
The 2019 BBC Komla Dumor award winner Serwanjja tweeted on Tuesday morning:
“On 31st July, I will be leaving NBSTV. It has been such an honour to serve for the last 6 years. Thank you Kin Kariisa and the entire Next Media family for the support.”
In 2019 Serwanjja was awarded the Komla Dumor Award, an annual award given by the BBC to celebrate African journalists.
Serwanjja is also a United Nations Reham al-Farra Memorial Journalism fellow 2018[5] and has worked as a news anchor and reporter for several television stations in East Africa including NBS TV, KTN News, NTV Uganda, UBC TV.
The African Institute for Investigative Journalism is an institute founded and niched in the ideas of investigative reporting.
The heart-line of the institute; is to provide investigative journalism in Uganda and on the continent a dignified home.
The Institute says it seek to use journalism as a tool for promoting social accountability, inform public discourse and create a nurturing space for passionate investigative journalists.
