YouTube deletes Prof. Ogwang’s Covidex message

Many families have secured hundreds of bottles for home use

Social Media Site,YouTube, has expunged Prof. Patrick Ogwang’s content related to the use of Covidex herbal medicine on grounds that it violates “medical misinformation policy.”

Youtube wrote to one of its users who had posted Ogwang’s video message saying that after reviewing the content, a decision was reached to delete it.

The video which was deleted carried Ogwang’s message in which he explained how to use Covidex, a wonder drug he developed that cures Covid-19 in days.

“We know this is disappointing but it is important to us that YouTube remains a safe place for all,” the administration of the online platform justified its action.

YouTube explained that it doesn’t allow content that spreads medical misinformation which contradicts World Health Organisation (WHO) medical information about Covid-19.

This development comes days after Covidex has been hugely demanded on the local market with confessions from Covid-19 patients that it cures the virus.

WHO warned health authorities in Uganda against approving this herbal medicine to treat Coronavirus.

Prof. Ogwang who already has the endorsement of President Yoweri Museveni, in his interview on Sunday said he expects many people across the globe to dismiss the medicine, adding that however, nothing is imported in manufacturing the drug.

YouTube’s actions have been perceived by members of the public as a reminder of “white supremacy” to Africans.
