The Government of Uganda through National Water & Sewerage Corporation has completed construction of new 240 million litres per day Katosi water works.
The team is now testing the new 55km DN1400mm Katosi-Kampala bulk transmission main that is evacuating water from the plant in Katosi to various water reservoirs and associated networks in Kampala.
Landscaping, road works and other final touches are ongoing in the water complex.
The new plant will add over 160 million litres of water per day bridging the water supply gaps in the Kampala Metropolitan service area.
The new plant will serve over 7.5 million people in Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono up to 2040.
The completion of this multi-billion project leaves water supply challenges in Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono districts as history.
This follows 100% completion of the Katosi Water Treatment Plant civil works, commencement of system tests and final installations at the facility.
