President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will tomorrow Friday meet Hon Rebecca Kadaga for the first time following her defeat in an attempt to seek a reelection as Speaker of Parliament.
The Kamuli Woman MP garnered 197 while her tormentor Rt Hon Jacob Oulanyah polled 310 votes to claim the Speaker’s seat, after 10 years of painfully serving under Kadaga as her deputy.
Kadaga who protested the decision of NRM’s top organ- CEC contested as an independent candidate on Monday.
President Museveni in his speech after the election at Kololo having witnessed Oulanyah and Hon Anita Among’s victory as Speaker and Deputy Speaker said that he had to ‘invoke’ his guerilla methods to teach Kadaga a lesson.
CEC members also vowed to discipline Ms Kadaga for defying their position which sets a bad precedence to youthful members of the party.
Against that backdrop Kadaga’s political future had remained uncertain considering the fact that she refused to accept the Vice President slot which President Museveni had earlier offered to her.
As her political future remained undefined, speculation suggested that she was contemplating leaving the NRM and also resigning her political seat.
An NRM top official told this website on Thursday afternoon that Kadaga will Friday attend CEC meeting and thereafter she will have a separate meeting with Museveni to chat out some political deal going forward.
CEC sits every Friday to discuss matters of the party and it is always chaired by the President who is the NRM chairman. In his absence he is represented by Vice Chairman Moses Kigongo.
Reports further suggest that Museveni has been convincing Kadaga to accept the position of Vice President in the next cabinet as consolation of her loss.
Efforts to reach Lindah Nabusayi, the President’s Press Secretary for comment were unsuccessful.
