New Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah has pledged to reunite, rebuild and mend relationships with opponents as the rationale of his leadership.
Oulanyah made the remarks in a tweet a few hours after his installation as the duly elected Speaker of the 11th Parliament by President Yoweri Museveni who handed him instruments of power.
Oulanyah defeated his senior Rebecca Kadaga whom he served for 10 years as deputy.
Oulanyah garnered 310 votes while Hon Rebecca Kadaga got 197 votes.
She contested against Oulanyah after CEC chose the Omoro MP as the NRM candidate.
“This election was challenging As a result, expectations are high, fears & uncertainties exist; but together, we should build bridges, mend relationships, rebuild friendships & replace despair with hope. I pledge to provide leadership through this. Ribbe Aye Teko. Stronger together!” Oulanyah tweeted.
