UCC calls for Business plan proposals for Skilling youth Groups in ICT and Multimedia

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) through the Uganda Communications Universal Service Access Fund (UCUSAF) has launched a call for business plan proposals to establish a collaboration in the implementation of key activities under a general thematic area of skilling youths in Multimedia production to enhance local content creation in Uganda in response to the adverse effects that COVID-19 pandemic is having on the entertainment industry and the youth.

Project Objectives

The general objective of the scheme is to encourage and assist the youth to adopt ICT tools and applications in multimedia production and related business processes, and thereby, improve their productivity and competitiveness in national and international markets. The strategy aims at establishing youths that are self-employed and self-sustaining using IT tools and skills in multimedia production.

 Project Actions

Identify target youths/youth groups to benefit from the skilling. Develop training content, customized in local languages, where    possible Train youths who meet prerequisite minimum skills requirements Monitor and follow-up trainees.

Target Group

This initiative targets youths/youth groups with an interest in Multimedia production and the arts and those engaged in the entertainment business. This phase is for a pilot that shall be done using facilities set up by UCC through UCUSAF at public ICT facilities in two locations. One urban (Wakiso) and one rural (Nakaseke).
