In her quest to seek a reelection as Speaker of the 11th Parliament, Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has said she never had an understanding with Central Executive Committee (CEC)  in 2016 to have her run for the last term.

CEC is the highest decision making organ of the ruling party chaired by the President and determines who becomes party’s candidate for Speakership.

Kadaga’s closest rival who is also deputy Speaker, Hon Jacob Oulanyah accused her of breaching an agreement they had before the President and others pillars of the NRM.

Oulanyah said, leaders must not be desperate to appoint of denying their own words for sake of retaining power because it leaves a bad precedence and legacy to the young leaders.

On Wednesday, Speaker Kadaga escorted by 40 MPs maintained her stance saying CEC had no agreement with her.

Kadaga said she will go for the neck of whoever stands on her way to challenge her bid for Speakership.

She made volatile remarks as she launched her campaign program at Speke Resort Munyonyo Hotel.
