Loyce Mbaine, a receptionist at Bushenyi based radio station Hunter FM told police what sparked off the scuffle in which he ended her boyfriend Allan Mandela’s life .
She confessed to have felt desperate after discovering that her lover was secretly on HIV treatment and had a heap of ARVs which he swallowed quietly.
Mbaine, would later go to hospital for HIV test. The results were positive.
In her statement to Police in Bushenyi where she is being held awaiting court process, Ms Mbaine said for a long time she had been sleeping with only Mandela before they got misunderstandings but reunited shortly.
“I was desperate. I felt I would be rejected. I thought I was cursed after I tested positive. I couldn’t forgive him for spoiling my life,” she reportedly told investigators.
On the fateful day on Friday, Mbaine walked into her lover’s home a few meters from their place of work at Hunter FM.
She was armed with a panga and a knife, ready to kill a man she described as heartless and selfish.
Mandela, 26, also known as Sports King Mateeka was a sports commentator at Hunter Radio.
Mbaine after committing the crime attempted to flee the crime scene but was stopped by the neigbours who heard her lover wailing before he died.
She returned and locked herself in the room where police found her and arrested her.
“We have the suspect in our custody, we arrested her from the scene (in the deceased house) where she had locked herself,” said The Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson, Mr Martial Tumusiime
Rogers Akandwanaho, the station manager Hunter FM said the two have been in a relationship for almost two and half years and had separated but was not aware of their reunion.
“I had stopped them from bringing girls in their rooms around the workplace and how the suspect came in last night I don’t know. We only had noise in the morning, she tried to escape but my staff stopped her and she locked herself inside and called police that came and arrested her,” he said.
