The Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu has acknowledged President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s re-election saying he looks forward to expand the cooperation of the two countries.

In February 1, message extended to Yoweri Museveni, Netanyahu said, “Congratulations on your re-election as President of Uganda.”

He added that, “In recent years, the ties between our two countries have become stronger and I am confident that through the joint efforts of our governments Israeli-Ugandan cooperation will continue to expand.”

Mr Netanyahu joins a horde of other world leaders who conveyed their congratulatory messages to President Museveni who was elected for the 6 time into office on January 14 after Electoral Commission (EC) declared him winner with 58%.

Museveni’s closest rival Robert Kyagulanyi garnered 35%. He rejected the results and has since contested Museveni’s victory in the Supreme Court.

“I wish you much success as you begin your new term in office and I look forward to further enhancing our relations for the mutual benefit of both our countries,” Netanyahu said.

Museveni will swear in as the duly elected Ugandan leader in May 2020 at Kololo grounds in Kampala.
