National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi will file an election petition today Monday challenging the Presidential results.

His lead lawyer Anthony Wameli said Kyagulanyi had already informed Supreme Court about the development.

Mr Kyagulanyi better known as Bobi Wine contested the results announced by Electoral Commission as “manufactured by security.”

He said, they obtained overwhelming evidence which would convince Court to annul Museveni’s victory having been declared duly elected by Electoral Commission.

Justice Simon Byabakama, the chairman of the Electoral Commission said Mr Kyagulanyi was free to seek court redress as a means of challenging Presidential results.

According to the law, a Presidential Election Petition is supposed to be filed with 15 days after the declaration of results.

The 15 days end on today Monday.

Meanwhile the Minister of Information and National Guidance Judith Nabakooba on Sunday said, government banned physical attendance in courts by the public due to spiraling COVID-19 cases.

She said only lawyers of both defendants and applicants and the judges will be allowed to sit in the Court chambers.
