Bobi Wine Trashes Boycott on Uganda Cranes

Robert Kyagulanyi, NUP principal

National Unity Platform (NUP) principal Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has decided to challenge his rival’s victory in the Supreme Court.

Bobi Wine who claims won the January 14 election garnered 35% while his main adversary Gen. Yoweri Museveni gathered 58% and was declared by Electoral Commission as duly elected President of Uganda.

However, Kyagulanyi contested the results saying his victory was “robbed”, the results were “manufactured” by the operatives in security and read by Electoral Commission.

Justice Simon Byabakama, the chairman of the Electoral Commission said Mr Kyagulanyi was free to seek court redress as a means of challenging Presidential results.

Addressing his supporters on Monday, Kyagulanyi said his camp was split into two groups; those who opposed going to court while another advocated for an election petition.

According to the law, a Presidential Election Petition is supposed to be filed with 15 days after the declaration of results.

The 15 days end on Monday and according to an official in NUP, Kyagulanyi will file his application on Monday.

Solomon Muyita the judiciary spokesperson, Kyagulanyi informed the Supreme Court that he will file his petition next week.

Kyagulanyi said he has got overwhelming evidence to support his rigging claims.
