Members of Parliament from the National Resistance Movement are set to meet their party Chairman President Yoweri Museveni on Saturday at 11am, TrumpetNews has reliably learnt.
Unlike in the past when Museveni met the MPs at State House Entebbe, this time round the caucus will take place at Kololo grounds as a way of observing social distance due to COVID-19.
Details of the meeting remain scanty but our source at State House said Museveni last met the MPs before elections.
“I think it is proper he meets them after elections and may be take stock,” a source said.
The caucus spokesperson Hon Margaret Muhanga couldn’t be reached for a comment.
The Presidential Press Secretary Don Wanyama was equally not available for a comment as he couldn’t pick our repeated calls.
This website further understands that Museveni will meet the current MPs, not the newly elected since they have not yet sworn in.
Almost half of the current MPs lost election including 23 powerful ministers.
As to whether Mr Museveni wants to discuss the party’s poor performance in Buganda region, it remains unknown.
President Museveni garnered 58% of the total votes, however, he was badly beaten by his closest opponent Robert Kyagulanyi in Central and some parts of the Eastern region.
