Breaking: High Court orders Security off Bobi Wine’s home

Police deployed heavily at Bobi Wine's home.

In honour of a High Court ruling made on Monday, security forces besieging Robert Kyagulanyi’s home have Tuesday morning left.

High Court ruled that the heavy deployment is unlawful.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said that security will adhere to the court’s pronouncement but will closely monitor Kyagulanyi who is suspected to be planning a series of violent activities as he protests the presidential election results.

Since the eve of January 14 election, security surrounded Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine’s home in Magere, Wakiso district.

He has been confined to his home after he returned from voting, with security claiming that they had evidence that he was planning to incite violence and lead demonstration after he disputed election results in which the electoral commission declared Mr Yoweri Museveni winner of the presidential poll.

The EC chairman Justice Simon Byabakama declared Mr Museveni, 76, winner of  the disputed poll with almost 59 percent while the outgoing Kyadondo East MP garnered almost 35 percent.

Shortly after Mr Kyagulanyi disputed the results, police and the army besieged his home and blocked anyone from leaving or accessing the premises.

Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Zaake was badly beaten by security when he attempted to visit Mr Kyagulanyi.

United States ambassador Natalie Brown was also blocked from accessing Bobi’s home.

Following the Court’s pronouncement, Security has today morning reluctantly left the politician’s home.

Most of the barricades set for roadblocks have been removed and security operatives have retreated to their bases.
