VIDEO: Ameria Kyambadde: I lost Because we have Overstayed in Power

Trade Minister Amelia Kyambadde lost the election.

Trade Minister Ameria Kyambadde has confessed that Mawokota County constituents were tired of her face after ruling them for a decade as the area MP.

On January 14, she lost election to her close opponent Hillary Innocent Kiyaga alias Dr Hilderman.

Hilderman, is a musician sponsored by National Unity Platform (NUP) that formerly worked closely with the Minister, recorded her a song “Ameria” at the peak of her political career in 2012 before the duo fell out.

Hilderman, an underdog in the race vowed to defeat the deep-rooted Minister which sounded like a myth until the people of Mawokota decided in the last election, taking the whole country by surprise.

But this female politician popularly known for her accent and independent minded reasoning attributed her loss to a number of factors.

Speaking to NTV on Tuesday, America confessed before the camera that voters “were tired of her face.”

“For 10 years while the leading people, they also get tired,” she added.

She threw a spanner in the works when she added that some of the voters openly told her that “we love you but we will not vote you because of the party you belong to.”
Ameria is a staunch NRM member.

She has worked with President Yoweri Museveni since 1986 when NRA took power as his Private Secretary until 2011 when she joined active politics.

Ameria in her opinion says NRM has overstayed in power and people are tired of it.

“The truth is we have overstayed. That is why some of us lost.”

NRM has been in power for 35 years. Museveni who is also the chairman of the party was re-elected as President and will serve for more five years.
