The incoming Special Forces Command (SFC) commander Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has pledged to keep the unit and its foster parent (UPDF) strong while bidding farewell to his predecessor Maj. Gen. James Birungi.

In a mini reshuffle which took place last Friday, the Commander in Chief (CIC) Gen. Yoweri Museveni reappointed his son the commander of SFC and sent Birungi to South Sudan on special assignment.

Birungi succeeded Gen. Paul Lokech who was appointed deputy IGP, replacing Maj. Gen. Muzeyi Sabiiti.

Muhoozi praised Birungi for his “his selfless and committed service” during his tenure at the command.

It is during Birungi’s tenure that SFC unveiled a new mega headquarter named after President Museveni.

In brief event that took place Monday in Entebbe at the SFC headquarter, Birungi said he was not doubting Muhoozi’s leadership since he was been in office before. “What changed were buildings,” Birungi said.

The ceremony was presided over by Army Commander Gen. David Muhoozi.
