Uganda Police has arrested and detained Nigerian singer Omah Lay for defying COVID-19 guidelines and staging a mega musical show.
The Singer on Saturday treated his fans to a powerful concert in a yet to be identified venue in Munyonyo, a high-end Kampala suburb.
Omah’s arrest has been confirmed by Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesman Luke Owoyesigire who Sunday tweeted; “Nigerian Artist Omah lay has been arrested by katwe police , the manager of the venue one Dungu Ivan and the Events manager Prim Kasana are also in custody. More details to follow.”
This website understands that his arrest was ordered by President Yoweri Museveni.
A section of Ugandan celebrities condemned Omah’s actions and wondered who authorized him to have a concert in Uganda when government had banned any gathering of that magnitude.
