Top Managers of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) on Wednesday ‘ran away’ from duty fearing to contract Coronavirus with tens of officers testing positive.
Almost all top officials are admitted in different health facilities in Kampala while others are treating the virus from home.
“There is a lot more happening at the tower,” said a staff who wished not to be named.
This website has learned that the Commissioner General John Musinguzi Rujoki has gone into quarantine after his immediate aides tested positive for the virus.
According to inside information, most of officers Rujoki moves with to upcountry have all contracted the virus which prompted him to self-isolate as he monitors his health.
It remains unknown whether Mr Rujooki has tested positive or not but an official at the Nakawa tower said “things are not good on his side.”
An official added that, Rujoki and a number of other top officers have been conducting morning prayers which are attended by crowds before kicking daily work.
The Human Resource Manager advised a section of workers to work from home as a way of observing social distancing and avoiding overcrowding in offices.
The virus has slowly ravaged corporate and government institution in the country because workers are exposed while executing their duties.
Uganda on Wednesday registered 1119 as the highest number of cases recorded per day and 12 deaths, as Kampala becomes the epicenter of the virus.
The Ministry of Health advised that since the country has degenerated into stage four of the pandemic, only seriousness in observing the health guidelines can save the situation.
