Police: Amuriat Summoned for Knocking Mbarara DPC with Boda Boda

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat has Friday been arrested by Police in Bushenyi District.

Initial reports suggested that Amuriat had been whisked away to unknown destination.

Police later admitted that he has been “summoned” to record a statement over the disturbing incident which occurred on Wednesday where Amuriat and his supporters “intentionally knocked the DPC of Mbarara using a bodaboda and obstructed officers on lawful duty.”

Police said new developments will be communicated as it remains unclear whether he will be detained and charged or not.

The DPC John Rutaagira, Was knocked down when he blocked the barefooted Forum for Democratic Change candidate from entering Mbarara city with his mass procession.

Amuriat who was returning from Rukungiri decided to use a boda boda after his vehicles were denied access.

Police chased after him and cut him off.
DPC Rutaagira jumped infront of the motorcycle and tried to grab Amuriat.
The boda rider who had not stopped, knocked Rutaagira and sent him to rolling on the ground.

He then jumped up quickly and attempted to grab Amuriat again but an FDC supporter knocked him away again.
