The meeting between the Electoral Commission (EC) chairman Justice Simon Byabakama and NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has kicked off at the commission’s head offices in Kampala.

Bobi Wine arrived at 11am with his entourage of 5 people as required by Mr Byabakama.

The presidential candidate is flanked by NUP secretary general Lewis Rubongoya, Kampala Lord Mayor contender Nabillah Naggayi, among others.

Bobi Wine is seeking answers from Mr Byabakama why State security continues to violently disrupt his campaigns, resulting into death and severe injuries of his people.

On Tuesday after fatal Kayunga clashes, Bobi Wine halted his campaigns saying he will first meet EC.

“Candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, requested to meet the Returning Officer and Chairperson/Electoral Commission, today, Wednesday 2nd December 2020, to make a presentation on issues concerning the conduct of campaigns for Presidential Elections. This request has been granted by the Returning Officer/Chairperson,” the EC spokesperson Paul Bukenya said.

“Hon. Kyagulanyi is expected at the EC Head Office at 11am, and will be accompanied by a team of five persons. Please note the principals will address the press after the Meeting,” he added.

Security has been beefed up at inside and outside the Commission’s premises.
