Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine on Wednesday narrowly survived being harmed by device which exploded inches away behind him.
The blast left Bobi Wine’s police bodyguard’s face ripped apart and his close ally Dan Magic’s mouth torn into two.
This website learnt that the explosion was not as a result of a teargas canister but a stun grenade which was thrown near Bobi Wine during the fatal Kayunga clashes as security dispersed his supporters on Tuesday.
Scores of citizens were left wounded others collapsed and were rushed to hospital.
The supporters of Kyagulanyi however criticized police of throwing an explosive and questioned the motive.
Evidence
But available evidence according to a video recorded by Ghetto TV, which streams live during Bobi Wine’s campaigns, the man who hurled the device is identified as Nobert Ariho.
Those known to him say, Ariho has been associating with Kyagulanyi for a long time until recently when he was fused into the inner security ring of National Unity Platform.
Ariho owns a printing business at Naser Road in Kampala.
In the video, Ario, clad in a black t-shirt is seen walking towards Kyagulanyi before making a u-turn to finding a strategic location behind him.
While walking, he receives something from a fellow who is also wearing a blue shirt and sunglasses.
Meanwhile, Bobi Wine is arguing with Police officers questioning why they are brutalizing his people.
In a blink of an eye, a huge explosion ensues prompting the security to cover Bobi Wine.
But one of the police guards attached to Bobi Wine is injured by the fragments of the device.
Police has said it is hunting Ariho as investigations into the matter continue.
An intelligence brief forwarded to President Yoweri Museveni a few days ago, indicated that there is a plan to kidnap or else assassinate Bobi Wine by foreign agents.
