VIDEO: Grenade Explodes near Bobi Wine in Kayunga

The pictures reveals Bobi Wine arguing with Police officers before the explosion happened.

A stun grade has exploded a few meters away from a point where Robert Kyagulanyi and his security ring were standing as police officers fired live ammunitions, rubber bullets and teargas to disperse crowds that gathered to attend the politician’s rally in Kayunga District.

The deadly clashes left tens of Kyagulanyi’s supporters including his close allies gravely injured.

As Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine confronted police officers on why they were continuing to harm his supporters, a huge explosion blasted near him forcing him to flee the venue.

In a video recorded by Ghetto TV, a social media page attached to Bobi Wine and NUP which covers his campaigns live, a huge explosion with a loud sound is seen blasting a a few meters from where he was.

It has been been identified as a stun grenade which is nonlethal but leaves deep injuries on an object.

According to wikipedea, “a stun grenade, also known as a flash grenade, flashbang, thunderflash or sound bomb.

It is a less-lethal explosive device used to temporarily disorient an enemy’s senses.

It is designed to produce a blinding flash of light of around 7 megacandela (Mcd) and an intensely loud “bang” of greater than 170 decibels (dB).

It was first used by the British Army’s Special Air Service in the late 1970s.

The flash momentarily activates all photoreceptor cells in the eye, blinding it for approximately five seconds.Afterward, victims perceive an afterimage which impairs their aim. The sheer volume of the detonation also causes temporary deafness in the victim and also disturbs the fluid in the ear, causing a loss of balance.”

The action of throwing the explosive at Bobi Wine has aroused anger among members of the public who wondered what the motive was.

Uganda Police has been criticised for brutalising Ugandans who gather to attend to their Presidential candidates.

The Election Regulator (Electoral Commission) previously cautioned the Police against blocking Presidential Campaigns but in vain.

But Police insists that it will deal with whichever political actor violates COVID-19 guidelines.
