Bobi Wine suspends Campaigns over Police Brutality

Bobi Wine's associate Dan Magic was shot allegedly shot in the mouth.

Robert Kyagulanyi, the main opposition Presidential Candidate will not proceed with his campaigns before getting answers why Uganda Police continues to brutalize his supporters.

He reached the decision on Tuesday after police violently dispersed his supporters with excessive use of teargas and bullets which injured a number of his supporters including his bodyguard and close friend Dan Magic.

Bobi Wine’s car was also badly damaged and its occupants wounded as police continuously fired volleys of teargas and bullets to scatters masses in Kayunga.

Bobi Wine was scheduled to campaign in Kayunga and Jinja districts.

While he helped some of the injured to be taken to hospital, Bobi Wine nearly broke down seeing his associates whimpering in pain.

He thus agreed with his taskforce to temporarily call off the campaigns to save his supporters from police’s wrath.

He said he will visit the Electoral Commission on Wednesday to seek answers as well express his dismay.

The Electoral Commission last week issued a notice to Uganda police over complaints of blocking and disrupting legal campaigns.

However, the Police Chief Okoth Ochola said, EC needed to avail evidence of disruption to back up the allegations.
