Lukwago rushed to Nairobi, Muzaata admitted to IHK as COVID rocks Kampala

The two prominent leaders are in hospital.

Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has been hurriedly taken to Kenya, Nairobi hospital over respiratory complications.

Officials in FDC said, there was no cause for alarm as Lukwago’s condition was not worrying since he had only developed allergies which affect his respiratory system causing general body weakness.

At time of evacuating Lukwago to Nairobi hospital, his close friend and a prominent Muslim Sheikh Nooh Muzaata Batte was admitted to IHK in Namwongo, Kampala in an isolation unit.

A relative said Muzaata is in critical condition, and his security has since been beefed up and the public is prohibited to see him.

Only the doctors and a few of his family members can access him.

Reports had suggested that Muzaata was poisoned which the family refuted. As why he remained guarded tightly remains unknown.

This website understands that IHK took blood samples of Muzaata to establish his COVID-19 status.

Whereas as it not confirmed if the duo has contracted COVID-19, fears remain high that Lukwago and Muzaata could have been exposed to the virus.

There are surging cases of COVID in Kampala especially during the election season. Lukwago has been campaigning openly seeking a re-election as Lord Mayor.
