COVID claims another Ugandan Legislator Watongola

Watongola is dead.

Kamuli Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Rehema Tiwuwe Watongola has died from Mulago National Referral Hospital, where she had been admitted for close to three weeks.

The legislator passed away at 11:20 am, according to the husband Hajji Badru Watongola, who added that the cause of death was still unknown.

However, reports from Mulago indicate that the lawmaker succumbed to Coronavirus.

Badru said the body was at Mulago Hospital awaiting postmortem, and any more details would be communicated in  due course.

This bring to two, the number of female Members of Parliament who have lost their lives this year, after Hon. Faith Alupo (Pallisa District), succumbed to Covid-19 in September.

The 54-year-old legislator joined Parliament of Uganda in 2016, having previously served at different in the leadership Organizations in Kamuli district and Busoga sub-region.
